ABOUT THIS VIDEO: I have done various kinds of exercise routines over the years, trying in vain to lose weight. P90X, Insanity, Rev Abs. They did the trick for a while, but the results didn't last, and I didn't stick with them.
Why not? Because I am a martial artist. I already devote a lot of time to practicing Wing Chun. Who the hell had the time to work out 6 days a week for 60-75 minutes at a time? Not me.
Then I heard about this method of exercise called High Intensity Training. (Please note this is not the same as High Intensity INTERVAL Training. Notice the word "Interval" is missing.) It was mentioned in another book that John Little coauthored called THE TAO OF WING CHUN.
In it, main author Danny Xuan says his coauthor introduced him to a training routine where you work out only once a week for 30 minutes. I thought, "Yeah, right. This sounds like the lazy person's workout dream come true."
I don't remember if Danny mentioned this book, but somehow I wound up coming across it. I decided to give it a read. When I did, I was blown away. "If this stuff is even 50% true," I thought, "then this could really be something!"
I went to Dr. Mcguff's website and found a trainer near me. In August 2019, I scheduled a free lesson and was amazed at how DESTROYED I felt after it. Funds were a little short, so I had to wait until January 2020 to begin. When I did, I never looked back.
What were my results?
In January 2020, I weighed 241 pounds.
As of May 2021, I weighed 164 pounds.
